My latest novel, #PANIC, is out in paperback, and I'm pretty damn pleased with it. There's a beautiful Hollywood actress who isn't all she seems, a murder, a trans heroine, a desperate escape across the US Southern states... If you like Killing Eve, you'll like #PANIC
I wrote it after a British TV producer asked me for a new story. It was optioned by Amblin, Steven Spielberg's production company, and a pilot script was written by the brilliant Jen Richards. Jen is trans, so the perfect screenrunner for #PANIC. I went to meet her and we had a great time, goofing around in Hollywood, eating fried chicken, and talking about the characters.
That was two summers ago. Then the writers' strike happened, and everything in Tinseltown went sideways, our project included. This happens. Writing's a game of snakes and ladders, and all you can do is watch the fall of the dice with a dispassionate eye. Right now, the future of #PANIC the TV series is uncertain. All I know is that Amblin loved the book, and they loved Jen’s script. So let’s see. Meanwhile, the novel's out. And I'd love you to read it.
Sure hope it sees the light and ends up as a movie on screen 🤞, bought both the physical and audiobook versions, and really enjoyed it. Very relatable the fandom within the book bringing friends together, I’ve experienced that with KE in the UK & NYC, minus the whole running from the law/gangs bit.
Loved reading Panic. I didn’t want this book to end! It would be a fabulous TV series, fingers crossed it comes to fruition one day soon.
