Loved this longer chapter! I'm definitely enjoying Johnny's character the more I read of him. He doesn't need lengthy conversation to drive a point across; plus, I love his subtle gestures. Johnny and Villanelle's chat over chess was brilliant. Now that Villanelle clearly sees her entire chessboard, she knows exactly how to navigate ever step until the final... checkmate.♟️
Okay Luke! This is so great. Villanelle is so smart and plays Balice so well! Villanelle knows that Balice is very bad and that she can read her like a book. Balice is so dumb and Villanelle is so very clever as usual. Balice covered for Ron Tiberius and Villanelle tells her that she knows that. The chess game was fun and Villanelle is a game master. I love Villanelle because she is one step ahead of everyone else. Especially Balice. I wish she would get rid of her once and for all. Balice is evil and thinks she is a match for Villanelle. Wrong Balice! You could never be a match for Villanelle, our hero. Now, Villanelle has told Balice what she wants in return for Myrtha. She wants Eve! ❤️ Yes! That is our Villanelle! Balice is in way over her head in a number of ways, but at the very least—Villanelle is quite the expensive honey trap! Ha. Get it, girl. Hoping we get Eve back in time for a chance at some murder wives exploits? :) Was just re-reading in DFM when Villanelle smoothly steps in to help Eve with Anton—what a good team! (“Is that good?” “‘Definitive’ according to the Observer.”) (Also remembering the can of baked beans and maybe Balice is in it even deeper than she realizes by underestimating Eve…). There will be reasons but this story line should have been series 3 or even 4 of the TV Series. Balice is a great creation and their relationship and dialogue is very Villanelle with its mixture of humour, sex and exploitation.. Excellent.
Good to see Johnny has a role now. He's a Yoda and it's rare to see V take advice from anyone. She must rate his low key profile. I wait to see how he develops...
