I love how, in this chapter, there seems to be a parallel between Villanelle’s appetite for food and sex being equally unsatisfied. In both cases what’s on offer is style over substance. For me, this reinforces my belief in the sustaining nature of Villanelle’s relationship with Eve. It’s a reminder to Villanelle that she may have cut Eve out of her emotional diet, but she hasn’t lost her taste for the real deal. Even the greatest predators will take carrion when they are hungry!

I would have said "love" rather than sex, because it strikes me that she thinks she longs for sex but it really is love she craves. Or perhaps sex in the context of love. This fling with Balice was utterly hollow and embarrassing.
Omg it happened! I knew it would, I really can’t stand Balice ! Adore Villanelle though, she is still very much going through an internal battle that I feel she is really trying to numb it out by sleeping with Balice , understand Eve being frightened for Vs life but where is the edge in her ? Wonder how she will feel when she finds out about V&Balice sleeping together, than again she has been sleeping with Niko I assume ? Hopefully we will see a jealous Eve as my heartaches for Villanelle, especially when she said what she feels is a loss! Do they really make snails in chocolate sauce and cream? 🤢 I’ve always heard about snails or frogs as in meals but dessert , makes my stomach feel like it’s gonna turn . Like French toast though 😂 . I cannot stomach this embarrassing alcohol induced affair between V and B any more than I can stomach French avantgarde kitchen. I always loved the down to Earth French country kitchen, though. Fond memories of long summers at my brother and sisters country house in the Cévennes... good honest wine and down to earth comfort food. And Villanelle needs comfort food and her comfort Eve.

I know we’re supposed to trust the process, but this one hurt. I’m guessing it’s the residual pain of Eve and Villanelle being so separate during the last season of the show only to be brought together and then the tragic end. It’s like can we have them together, albeit flawed as always, fighting the “good” fight (a bad fight would be cool too!). Not that we didn’t see this coming but I’m looking forward to a reunion shortly. Please! Lol. Despite that, thank you for these characters. They obviously stir lots of emotions! ❤️🤗
In my heart of hearts I truly believe that Eve is doing what she's doing in some way to protect Villanelle I don't think she's really gone back to her husband. I think she's still in love with Villanelle. There is something about this chapter though I could just hear her so clearly in my mind
Oooh! I felt like this was coming...Villanelle sleeping with Balice. I know Balice doesn't mean anything to V, but she is hurting and trying to distract herself from thinking of Eve. But even in the midst of sex with Balice, Eve is still front and center. Villanelle cannot sort out her sorrow.
Balice is in V’s eyes just “someone she can play with” while V rolls with the punches in her mission until she can get the upper hand on Balice & those above her. Sort of feel sorry for Balice, perhaps unknowingly being used & corrupted by V to her amusement until she’s no longer useful in V’s endgame. Glad V is still yearning for Eve after all that has happened.
Oh Villanelle... that old story of trying to make up for something with someone else. When the phrase that she felt "loss" came, it gnawed at my heart. Villanelle still doesn't quite understand the whole relationship and feelings part. And like in the first chapters, she thinks it's just a matter of erasing Eve from her life and moving on. However, she herself is seeing and feeling that it is not like that, always thinking about her, remembering so many moments together and finally even sleeping with someone, and yet what she only feels is loss... how sad! But one thing is certain: Eve has to show up, we miss her.
Another detail: Villanelle already feels that Balice is going to betray her. I felt it right away. She didn't forget the death of that friend, there she has a lot of hate inside her. And Villanelle has to be prepared to do what she has to do, kill her. Great chapter always Luke.
For me and who I think Villanelle is... this chapter was maybe my favorite. I might have said that before but it was true when I said it 😉
I do the silly little exercise in my head when Konstantin surprises Villanelle on the streets of Paris while she's window shopping and she says, "You know you don't have to be so dramatic" and I've kind of nailed her accent in my mind so I say that and then I can read all of your lines in her accent. I could hear her so clearly this time, I could actually feel her this time. It is just superb. Thank you so much.
Curious to see where the next steps with Ron Tiberius lead (mostly because I don't think I've ever awaited a Codename Villanelle kill with such eagerness before. Excuse the bloodlust.)
The consummation with Balice! It has happened, and is now out of the way :D Surprised how much I'm enjoying Balice, and how ready she is to meet Villanelle's bs. Perhaps she is TOO suited to Villanelle, and perhaps Villanelle to her, and that is precisely why Balice has no future with Villanelle. But, then again, what kind of future with Villanelle exists for anyone?
Interesting to see that Villanelle is prompted to vomit after learning how Balice's group is exerting pressure and blackmail on a young girl to get to Ron Tiberius... (possibly means nothing. After all Villanelle is a psychopath with no empathy for anyone... or does she?)
Very disappointed. I didn't think Villanelle would succumb to awful Balice, drunk or not. Can't stand Balice. A waste of good writing. I do love Villanelle. I'm just sad that Eve is not with her.
I feel your pain, I honestly didn’t want Villanelle to go there with Balice. Just the thought of it doesn’t feel right , but the one thing I did gather from it is how Luke described Villanelle feels a (loss) feel like Luke is threading into depths of Villanelle being able to feel these feelings a lot more & she is trying to understand them. I think Villanelle is very vulnerable right now & the real psychopath is Balice , I absolutely can’t stand her she actually makes me feel sick . I just want to shake the hell out of Eve aswell for playing wife with Niko , I feel like a big surprise is in store 😳🎢 I do have a habit of trying to guess things & one thing keeps playing on my mind . Will have to see what Luke the mastermind has in store for us all 🤞💯🎢

Eve and Villanelle belong together. I know others feel the same by their comments. Please don't let us down Luke. I'm not surprised at Villanelle's behaviour. Balice is simply someone to manipulate and play with in her end game. But I'm missing Eve. I wonder if she is really back in married bliss. I can't see that being the case. Her relationship with Villanelle was passionately intense. Why would she go back to hubby or anyone else for that matter? I'm holding out for discovering Eve is doing her own scheming to get back to Villanelle and also to enact revenge on the people who kidnapped her/forced her to leave. Bring it on!

Qu'elle trompe Eve avec Balice si rapidement est assez osé, mais il est vrai que V n'a jamais été un modèle de fidélité. Je me souviens de cette nuit sur la plate-forme d'entraînement pendant laquelle V couche avec son ex sans aucun scrupule " Ce n'est que du sexe " dira t elle à E. Villanelle aime le sexe et en plus dans ce nouveau livre elle est vexée que E puisse retourner vivre avec Niko. Elle se venge désespérément. Je comprends je crois mais c'est dérangeant!!!
